Safety Executive

About the role

We are looking for a Safety Executive to lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) initiatives on our construction projects in Nairobi. The role involves developing and enforcing HSE policies, conducting inspections, and fostering a strong safety culture among staff and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and programs in line with regulatory and company standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Identify workplace hazards, assess risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses and follow up on corrective actions.
• Deliver safety inductions, trainings and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
• Monitor compliance with HSE regulations, standards and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and documentation.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage employee participation in HSE initiatives.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure safe execution of construction activities.
• Ensure proper waste management and environmental protection on site.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Professional NEBOSH certification.
• 3–5 years of proven experience in health, safety and environmental management within industrial, construction or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards and best practices such as OSHA, EPA and ISO.
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with HSE management systems or software.
