Sales Manager – Alternative Channels

About the role

The Sales Manager – Alternative Channels will lead the development, management and growth of strategic partnerships across a range of alternative distribution channels. This role is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth for Life, General Insurance and Health products by acquiring new partners and deepening existing relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, engage, negotiate and onboard strategic distribution partners such as MFIs, Saccos, professional associations, affinity groups, aggregators, fintechs and corporates.
• Drive premium growth, revenue, profitability and retention through a robust sales pipeline.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to increase insurance penetration and market share across assigned alternative channels.
• Present, pitch and close insurance solutions for individuals, SMEs and institutional clients.
• Identify cross‑selling and upselling opportunities across the Old Mutual product portfolio.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partner executives, decision‑makers and board members.
• Conduct regular business reviews with partners to evaluate performance and address challenges.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Product Development, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Marketing) to design and enhance insurance solutions that meet partner and customer needs.

Required profile

• Full accountability for business development, premium growth, profitability, retention and cross‑selling of Life, General Insurance and Health solutions across alternative channels.
• Proven experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships with MFIs, Saccos, fintechs or similar alternative distribution partners.
• Ability to drive market penetration, grow partner productivity and deliver tailored insurance propositions.
