Security Officer (P4) – Sudan (Khartoum/Port Sudan)

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Security Officer (P4) to lead security risk management across the five Darfur states. The role ensures the safety of WFP personnel, assets, facilities and operations in a volatile environment, adapting to evolving field conditions and possible changes in duty stations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and oversee Security Risk Management plans for Darfur states.
• Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate security arrangements with local authorities, partners and WFP staff.
• Monitor security incidents, maintain situational awareness and provide timely advice.
• Ensure compliance with WFP security policies and UN security standards.
• Deliver security training and briefings to staff and contractors.

Required profile

• Significant experience in security management within high‑risk or conflict‑affected settings.
• Knowledge of UN/WFP security standards and protocols.
• Ability to operate in challenging field conditions and adapt to rapid changes.
• Willingness to deploy to El Geneina and temporarily to Khartoum or Port Sudan.
• Strong judgment, analytical skills and the capacity to work independently.
