Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical Senior Accountant to lead our finance function. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls while providing strategic insights to support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, management accounts and dashboards in line with accounting standards.
• Supervise day‑to‑day accounting activities including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, cash flow management and month‑end/year‑end closings.
• Ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory obligations and compliance with Kenyan tax laws.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting process, produce forecasts, analyse variances and deliver actionable financial insights.
• Develop, implement and monitor internal controls, financial policies and risk‑mitigation measures.
• Lead external audits, maintain the fixed‑asset register and oversee inventory and revenue reconciliations.
• Manage financial aspects of supplier contracts and support commercial decisions through analysis.
• Mentor and support the accounting team, fostering a high‑performance environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory compliance.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Zoho Books or Tally.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash‑flow management and internal controls.
