Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead day‑to‑day finance operations, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting and effective cash management. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role supports internal and external stakeholders while upholding the highest standards of integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure finance operations comply with company policies, group accounting standards and Kenyan tax and statutory regulations.
• Support internal audits, implement auditor recommendations and maintain audit documentation.
• Prepare monthly budget vs expenditure reviews, performance reports and quarterly analysis for donor compliance.
• Conduct monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, journal entries and provide commentary on P&L drivers.
• Manage cash‑flow activities, prepare cash‑flow requirement reports and oversee payment schedules, including petty‑cash control.
• Partner with function and regional leads to develop annual forecasts, budgets and variance explanations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience (60 months).
• Senior‑level qualification with proven ability to lead accountants and interns.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan tax law, statutory deductions and donor reporting requirements.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with Marketing, Commercial, HR and other departments.
