Senior Electrical Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems for high‑value building and infrastructure projects in Nairobi. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and responsibility for delivering safe, reliable and code‑compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Coordinate electrical works with structural, architectural and mechanical disciplines.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of LV/HV systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare cost estimates.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules and cost controls.
• Advise on procurement of electrical components and support vendor negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, Kenyan regulations and international standards.
• Maintain safety certifications, project documentation and stakeholder relationships.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years progressive post‑qualification experience in building or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of LV and HV distribution, switchgear, transformers and cabling.
• Familiarity with IEC, BS and Kenyan electrical standards.
• Proven ability to manage full project lifecycles from design to commissioning.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
