Senior Manager, Communications

About the role

M-KOPA is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications to shape the narrative across multiple African markets, advise senior leaders, and protect the company’s reputation. You will work closely with business units, media, regulators and internal teams to ensure a coherent and credible story that supports rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and pitch media stories, tailoring messages for local and group audiences.
• Partner with Country Managing Directors to align positioning with business objectives.
• Advise senior stakeholders on handling sensitive issues and crisis situations.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Brand and HR to ensure consistent storytelling across campaigns and internal communications.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, partners, government officials and regulators across all operating markets.
• Lead reputation management, including rapid response when issues arise.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior communications or public relations roles, preferably in fast‑growing, multi‑market environments.
• Strong ability to craft narratives before they become news and to protect them under pressure.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders.
• Comfortable working hands‑on, drafting pitches and briefs yourself.
