Senior Project Developer – Utility‑Scale Solar & Storage

About the role

PowerGen Renewable Energy is seeking a Senior Project Developer to lead the end‑to‑end development of utility‑scale solar PV and battery storage projects (50 MW+ / MWh+). You will be responsible for moving projects from origination through permitting, financial close and handover to construction while meeting quality, timeline and budget targets.

Key responsibilities

• Identify sites, conduct feasibility studies and drive land acquisition for large‑scale solar and BESS projects.
• Manage permitting processes, secure environmental, land‑use and regulatory approvals.
• Structure and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements and offtake arrangements.
• Lead grid interconnection applications, studies and negotiations with utilities.
• Oversee financial modeling, development budgets and risk mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• 7–12 years of experience in large‑scale renewable energy project development, with at least three 50 MW+ projects taken to financial close.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Management, Business or related field.
• Proven experience working on utility‑scale solar PV and BESS projects in Africa or other emerging markets.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with communities, regulators and investors.
