Senior Software Engineer (NodeJS)

About the role

Beem is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape cloud communication services across Africa. The role focuses on building scalable backend applications using Node.js and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services on a JavaScript (Node.js) stack.
• Integrate and manage APIs using HTTP, XML, SOAP, and JSON formats.
• Collaborate with product, design, and non‑technical stakeholders to translate requirements into working features.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement using Mocha, Jest and Git.
• Contribute to cloud deployment and operations on platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong portfolio of code projects demonstrating backend expertise.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and stakeholder management skills.
• Integrity, credibility, and dedication to the company mission.

Required skills

• JavaScript (Node.js) for backend development.
• Experience with ExpressJS, Yii, Redis, RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with React (frontend) is a plus.
• SQL and NoSQL database experience.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Testing frameworks Mocha and Jest.
• Version control with Git.
• Integration with HTTP, XML, SOAP, JSON APIs.
