Skilled Welder – Construction Projects

About the role

Intex Construction Limited is seeking a skilled Welder to join its workshop team in Westlands, Nairobi. The successful candidate will work on a variety of construction projects, ensuring high‑quality welds that meet design specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine project measurements.
• Measure, cut, and shape metal components using hand tools, plasma cutters, or metal‑cutting machines.
• Apply appropriate welding techniques to join metal parts.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment safely, including welding cells and flame‑cutting tools.
• Inspect and test welds for structural integrity, compliance, and design requirements.
• Finish welded surfaces to remove imperfections and ensure proper alignment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with OSHA and company safety protocols.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Certificate/Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding.
• Professional welding certification is desirable.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on welding experience, apprenticeships or training programs preferred.
• Strong work ethic, honesty, loyalty, and the ability to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, SMAW).
• Operation of welding equipment, plasma cutters, and flame‑cutting tools.
• Metal measurement, cutting, shaping, and finishing.
• Inspection and testing of weld quality.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and use of protective gear.
• Precision in measurements and material handling.
