Software Support Engineer (Remote)

About the role

As a Software Support Engineer you will act as the critical bridge between Boost Technology’s engineering team and its on‑ground operations across Africa. Working remotely, you will triage technical issues, ship production code fixes in Python and SQL, and ensure a smooth experience for thousands of informal retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems by investigating root causes in the codebase.
• Develop and deploy production‑ready fixes and platform enhancements using Python (Flask) and PostgreSQL.
• Maintain and improve the QA and testing pipeline, building automated test suites to prevent regressions.
• Collaborate with cross‑cultural teams to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in engineering, product, or technical support roles, preferably in a fast‑paced startup.
• Strong communication skills to work with non‑technical stakeholders across different time zones.
• Passion for digging into code and cloud infrastructure.

Required skills

• Python (intermediate proficiency, preferably with Flask).
• SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) basics.
• Experience with automated testing and QA processes.
