SOIL Mentor – Community Entrepreneurship & Nutrition (Marsabit)

About the role

The SOIL Mentor will support the delivery of the SOIL program in Marsabit County, providing monthly coaching, mentorship, training, market linkages and follow‑up activities. The role aims to achieve improved nutrition, livelihoods, entrepreneurship, savings, resilience and child well‑being outcomes for participating households.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise and enrol participants, targeting vulnerable households in the project area.
• Facilitate formation and strengthening of Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups.
• Provide business coaching, entrepreneurship guidance and practical nutrition advice.
• Monitor progress of interventions, collect data and report to the Field Officer.
• Establish and maintain links with local markets, financial services and government structures.
• Ensure quality implementation of program activities and adherence to timelines.

Required profile

• Member of the local community/villages where the project is implemented.
• Clear understanding of community culture, language and geographical coverage.
• At least one month of experience in community development, livelihood or nutrition projects.
• Ability to travel within the project area and work independently in the field.

Required skills

• Basic data collection and monitoring.

• Knowledge of nutrition‑sensitive interventions and natural resource management.
