Steward and Head Baker roles

About the role

Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi is seeking experienced hospitality professionals to join its food‑and‑beverage team. The hotel needs a Steward to oversee banquet and kitchen stewarding operations and a Head Baker to produce high‑quality baked goods for guests and events.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and train stewarding staff, ensuring proper mise‑en‑place and equipment readiness for banquets and outside catering.
• Monitor cleaning, sanitation and maintenance of kitchen and banquet areas, adhering to public‑health standards.
• Control inventory, equipment movement and costs, including breakage and chemical usage.
• Assist the Chief Steward with daily operations and equipment washing.
• Prepare and bake a range of breads, cakes, pastries and other bakery items according to production schedules and standardized recipes.
• Manage bakery production, adjust processes as needed, and ensure cost‑effective use of ingredients and equipment.

Required profile

• Age 30‑45 years with relevant management or supervisory training.
• Minimum five years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a five‑star hotel.
• Strong organisational abilities and capacity to work in a high‑performance environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP and food‑safety regulations.
• Proficiency with kitchen equipment and hygiene cleaning detergents.
• Inventory management and cost‑control expertise.
• Baking and pastry preparation techniques.
