Support Engineer

About the role

Celcom Africa Ltd is looking for a Support Engineer to join its technology team in Nairobi. The role focuses on building and maintaining high‑performance software applications while providing technical support for internal and external users. You will work closely with product, operations and engineering teams in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable software applications.
• Write clean, efficient code in Java, Go or PHP following best practices.
• Integrate and manage APIs and third‑party services.
• Troubleshoot, debug and enhance existing systems.
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions and code reviews.
• Support deployment, monitoring and performance optimisation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• At least one month of professional software development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Java, Go, PHP programming languages.
• API development and integration.
• Database interaction and web technologies.
• Version control with Git.
• Understanding of Agile development and SDLC.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes (added advantage).
