Tax Operations Manager – Eastern & Southern Africa

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Operations Manager for the Eastern & Southern Africa (ESA) region to lead tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In this hands‑on role you will ensure PawaPay meets all statutory tax obligations accurately and on time while supporting the business in a fast‑moving fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file all direct and indirect tax returns for ESA countries within required deadlines.
• Own tax account reconciliations and maintain a comprehensive tax repository with filings, payments and supporting documents.
• Produce periodic tax compliance reports and provide visibility on the overall compliance position across the region.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory tax changes and advise the business on necessary adjustments.
• Manage day‑to‑day engagement with revenue authorities, handle queries and coordinate audit processes.
• Support transfer pricing documentation and collaborate with finance, legal, operations and commercial teams.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
• Technical tax knowledge covering both direct and indirect taxes in African markets.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with revenue authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude and comfort working in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
