Trainee - Import / Export Specialist

About the role

Join DHL Global Forwarding in Nairobi as a Trainee Import/Export Specialist. You will support the preparation and clearance of customs documentation, ensuring smooth cross‑border shipments for our global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer import and export plans to optimise service performance.
• Perform transactional tasks in line with local customs regulations and internal procedures.
• Prepare duty calculations, tariff classifications, price conversions and weight/volume assessments.
• Draft, distribute and archive all required import/export documents.
• Verify invoices and shipping documents for compliance with federal regulations.
• Collaborate with internal functions such as customer service, sales and product teams.
• Maintain IT systems with up‑to‑date shipment information and resolve recurring issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Less than 2 years of professional experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory guidelines.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy (e.g., MS Office, data entry systems).
