Recreation Services Specialist

About the role

The Recreation Services Specialist will support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia by delivering and overseeing recreation programs that boost morale and welfare for military personnel and civilians.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deliver, and supervise recreation programs and activities for the military community.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous material handling guidelines (CNICINST 1710.3, Chapter 1, Section 114).
• Maintain current CPR certification or obtain it before employment.
• Complete Navy MWR Star Service and AECR customer‑service training.
• Manage day‑to‑day recreational services, facilities, and equipment with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
• Set up and support special events, sports leagues, and community‑wide activities.
• Interact with patrons, respond to inquiries, and provide professional service.
• Inspect and maintain recreational equipment and facilities.
• Assist with inventory management of supplies and materials used in programs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training or certification for hazardous material handling as specified.
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain it before start date.
• Willingness to complete Navy MWR Star Service and AECR customer‑service training.
• Familiarity with recreational activities and customer service in a community or military setting.
• Valid passport valid for at least one year and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
