Accounts Assistant – Finance Support

About the role

The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance function at VisionFund Kenya, a dynamic financial services subsidiary of World Vision Kenya. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will help strengthen internal controls, ensure accurate documentation, and improve the efficiency of financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process bank and M-Pesa payments, including supplier invoices, statutory payments, and staff wages.
• Verify supplier invoices, ETR receipts, and LPOs.
• Review payroll adjustments, process payroll transactions and post monthly payroll journals.
• Monitor daily bank balances, maintain cash‑flow reports and manage short‑term cash requirements.
• Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, post journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and inter‑company transactions.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes and prepare end‑of‑month journals.
• Prepare statutory tax returns/payments (VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, excise duty) and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Prepare funded project reports, monitor budgets and generate management reports.

Required profile

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Section 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Administration, Accounting or Finance.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Familiarity with accounting software and MS Excel.
• Understanding of tax, payroll and statutory compliance concepts.
• Experience with bank reconciliation and financial reporting.
