Accounts Receivable Specialist

About the role

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will manage the end‑to‑end invoicing process, maintain accurate customer balances and support the finance team in month‑end closing activities. This full‑time position is based in Westlands, Nairobi and offers the opportunity to work closely with sales, finance and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process customer invoices, credit notes and related documentation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date customer accounts in the ERP system.
• Monitor balances, perform regular reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Generate ageing reports and provide updates on outstanding amounts.
• Support month‑end closing by supplying accurate receivables data.
• Control credit limits, follow up overdue invoices and coordinate collection activities.
• Escalate disputed or long‑outstanding accounts for appropriate action.
• Respond to customer queries on invoices, statements and payments.
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance and other departments to resolve billing issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial records.
• Effective communication and follow‑up skills.

Required skills

• Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
• Good understanding of invoicing, reconciliations, credit control and debt collection.
