Chief Accountant – Botswana

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the finance function for the Botswana operation, acting as the principal financial adviser to the Country Managing Director and regional finance teams. The role safeguards financial resources, ensures compliance, and provides insight to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Country Managing Director on financial strategy, contract negotiations, pricing and commercial decisions.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in line with local and group standards.
• Oversee project accounting, work‑in‑progress management and detailed margin analysis.
• Coordinate annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and medium‑term financial planning.
• Monitor cash flow, treasury activities and financial risk, ensuring timely reporting to regional management.
• Lead profitability improvement initiatives and support commercial teams with financial insights.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in a senior or head‑of‑finance role.
• Strong knowledge of statutory, tax and regulatory compliance in the region.
• Proven ability to manage and develop a finance team.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to translate financial data into business recommendations.
