Corporate Lawyer

About the role

The Somali Lawyers Association (SLA) is seeking a full‑time Corporate Lawyer to join its Nairobi office. You will provide legal advice and support on corporate and commercial matters to members of the SLA network and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and corporate documents.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management.
• Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Represent clients in negotiations and prepare clear legal opinions.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals on complex corporate transactions.
• Participate in SLA workshops, mentoring programmes, and community events focused on legal education.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in corporate and commercial law, including contract drafting and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and research abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and admission to practice law in Kenya (or eligibility for admission) with relevant corporate law experience.
• High ethical standards, professional integrity, and a commitment to mentorship and representation.
• Ability to work on‑site in Nairobi, manage multiple matters, and stay organized in a fast‑paced environment.
