Data Engineer

About the role

The Data Engineer will join the Data Science & Analytics team to design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines and cloud‑based data stores. You will work closely with business analysts and data scientists to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Document data models and design schemas for cloud environments.
• Architect distributed systems and data stores using AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Develop, test and support data processing pipelines that combine survey, voter file and other data sources.
• Collaborate with business analysts to capture requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Create automation scripts (Unix, Python) to streamline repetitive data processing tasks.
• Implement quality‑control procedures and test scripts for data pipelines.
• Identify opportunities for automation and build internal tools to simplify complex workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a data‑engineering role or a similar position.
• Proven ability to work across regional teams, communicate clearly and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on simplifying complex challenges.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• SQL query language.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of star schemas and data‑warehouse concepts.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and batch or micro‑service pipelines.
• Airflow or similar workflow management tools.
• Unix/Linux scripting.
• Oracle ODI (optional but beneficial).
