Data Scientist – Healthcare Analytics

About the role

The Data Scientist will join KQ Health’s Data, Analytics & AI department in Nairobi, supporting the organization’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes through data‑driven insights. Reporting to the Data Manager, you will help translate complex data into actionable recommendations for strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop econometric and statistical models for forecasting, classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling and simulations.
• Build and maintain the scientific and technical foundation for ongoing data projects within the department.
• Provide forward‑thinking recommendations by deeply understanding business problems and available data assets.
• Execute ad‑hoc data mining and exploration on large datasets related to business strategies.
• Generate actionable insights using predictive models, segmentation, customer profiling, survey design and other advanced techniques.
• Collaborate with fellow data scientists and communicate findings to stakeholders to improve decision‑making.
• Promote continuous improvement of processes and ensure compliance with policies and statutory guidelines.
• Participate in project execution, ensuring scope clarity, timely delivery and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
• Up to three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and work.
• Creative, highly driven and self‑motivated with a strategic perspective.
• Strong analytical ability to synthesize diverse data and develop actionable strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced statistical analysis, data mining and data visualization techniques.
• Experience with big data concepts and familiarity with data science or generative AI certifications.
