Group Lending Manager – Microfinance Operations

About the role

The Group Lending Manager will lead VisionFund Kenya’s group lending portfolio, driving sustainable growth and ensuring high‑quality credit performance. Reporting to senior leadership, you will translate strategic objectives into operational plans across all branches while fostering a culture of excellence and responsible lending.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to expand the group lending portfolio and achieve profitability targets.
• Monitor branch performance against key indicators, taking corrective action when needed.
• Oversee credit appraisal, loan approval, portfolio monitoring and recovery processes to keep Portfolio at Risk within institutional thresholds.
• Ensure compliance with VisionFund policies, regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Lead and mentor regional and branch lending teams, promoting accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
• Champion excellent customer service, monitor satisfaction and resolve client complaints promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Banking, Microfinance or a related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum five years of experience in microfinance or financial services.
• At least three years in a supervisory or management role within group lending operations.
• Proven track record in credit analysis, portfolio management, loan recovery and business growth.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment and portfolio monitoring.
• Experience with loan approval and recovery processes.
• Ability to analyse financial data and drive performance improvements.
