Housekeeping/Cleaning Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping/Cleaning Supervisor to lead daily cleaning operations across commercial and residential properties in Nairobi. The role involves managing staff, ensuring high cleaning standards, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate and monitor daily cleaning activities in commercial and residential sites.
• Assign duties, prepare schedules and ensure adequate staffing.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Train, coach and mentor cleaning staff on procedures, safety, hygiene and equipment use.
• Operate and oversee cleaning machines such as scrubber‑dryers, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, carpet extractors, pressure washers and steam cleaners.
• Maintain equipment, manage inventory of cleaning chemicals and ensure proper storage, dilution and handling.
• Enforce PPE usage and health, safety and environmental standards.
• Handle client feedback and complaints, taking corrective actions promptly.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on activities, attendance, inspections and incidents.
• Promote team discipline, performance and a culture of accountability.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of progressive experience as a Cleaning/Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Recent experience in a professional cleaning company serving commercial and residential properties.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, hygiene, health & safety and environmental standards.
• Ability to manage multiple sites, work under pressure and lead by example.
• Physically fit and hands‑on.

Required skills

• Operation of scrubber‑dryers, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, carpet extractors, pressure washers and steam cleaners.
• Handling, dilution and safe storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Inventory management of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
