HR Generalist

About the role

The HR Generalist will support the HR Business Partner at Amref Health Africa’s headquarters, delivering employee‑centred services across the full employee lifecycle. This role blends day‑to‑day people operations with forward‑looking HR practices, ensuring smooth recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all stages of the employee lifecycle, from appointment and onboarding to probation, contract changes, transfers, leave administration, and off‑boarding.
• Prepare accurate employment documentation, maintain contract trackers, and ensure confidential employee records in the HR information system.
• Support payroll and benefits administration by validating employee changes and reconciling data.
• Provide first‑line guidance on HR policies, processes, and self‑service tools, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Monitor service queries, identify pain points, and recommend improvements to the HR Business Partner.
• Assist workforce planning by tracking headcount, vacancies, and emerging staffing needs.
• Coordinate recruitment processes from requisition approval through appointment.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of HR operations and employee lifecycle management.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential records.
• Effective communication skills for providing guidance to employees and managers.
• Analytical mindset to monitor service trends and suggest improvements.
