Imports/Exports Operations Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Imports/Exports Operations Officer to lead and manage end‑to‑end customs clearance and logistics processes. The role ensures compliance with local and international trade regulations while optimizing operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage end‑to‑end customs clearance processes, including documentation, compliance checks, and coordination with relevant authorities.
• Ensure all operations comply with local laws, international trade regulations, and company standards.
• Identify and control potential risks throughout the clearance and logistics process.
• Lead, guide, and support the operations team to achieve performance goals and service excellence.
• Coordinate effectively with clients, shipping lines, customs officials, and other stakeholders.
• Optimize operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare and analyze operational reports to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, or import operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, International Trade, or a related field (preferred).
• Practical knowledge of customs procedures and import/export documentation.
• Understanding of international trade and logistics processes.
• Familiarity with East African trade regulations and cross‑border logistics is a plus.
