Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

About the role

The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist will ensure accurate processing of medical claims, from verification of patient and insurance information to submission and follow‑up with payers. You will work closely with the coding team and providers to maintain compliance and optimize revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient data, insurance eligibility, and coverage details.
• Code and submit claims using ICD‑10, CPT, and HCPCS standards.
• Track claims, follow up on unpaid or denied submissions, and handle appeals.
• Process patient and insurance payments, posting them to the correct accounts.
• Maintain detailed records of billing transactions and account adjustments.
• Generate reports on billing, collections, and accounts receivable.
• Collaborate with providers, insurers, and billing staff to resolve issues.
• Stay current with changes in coding requirements, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years (24 months) of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail in a high‑volume environment.
