Network Technician Level 1 – Nairobi

About the role

We are looking for a Network Technician Level 1 to join our field team in Nairobi. The role involves troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining network equipment at customer sites while delivering professional service and clear communication.

Key responsibilities

• Perform low‑complexity installations, moves, repairs, and uninstalls of switches, routers and other telecom equipment.
• Conduct site surveys, triage issues, and escort vendors as required.
• Rack, stack, label, terminate and test cabling for circuit demarcation extensions.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Place, connect and activate telephone devices and network hardware.
• Document work in ticketing systems and provide status updates to the NOC.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in network support or a similar field‑service role.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing over 45 lb.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ (preferred).

Required skills

• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS and DHCP.
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco or comparable networking gear.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
• Proficiency with terminal emulators (PuTTY, Tera Term, Poderosa) and serial console connections.
