Policy Analyst (UN Volunteer)

About the role

The United Nations Volunteers programme is seeking a Policy Analyst to join the Environment Management Group (EMG) Secretariat. Working under the Head of the Secretariat, you will support innovation and technological advancement across EMG’s technical, programmatic, and operational activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement digital tools, templates, tracking systems and surveys to enhance EMG workflows.
• Collect, evaluate, analyse and disseminate quantitative and qualitative data, creating intuitive visualisations and high‑quality reports for EMG members and UN bodies.
• Maintain data repositories, ensure data integrity, and manage storage, processing and transformation using advanced analytical tools.
• Create and update content for websites, social media channels and newsletters.
• Train colleagues on data collection methods, AI‑based analytical tools and support access to relevant databases.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies within the UN system and the broader industry.
• Participate in UNV volunteerism activities, contribute articles, and support the Buddy Programme for new volunteers.

Required profile

• Strong interest in environmental policy, data‑driven decision‑making and digital innovation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Secretariat staff, EMG members and external UN entities.
• Willingness to learn and apply new technologies, including AI tools.
