Programme Management Intern – CITES MIKE Program

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Intern to support the CITES MIKE (Monitoring of the Illegal Killing of Elephants) Programme in Nairobi. Working under the Programme Management Officer and the MIKE Coordinator, the intern will contribute to communications, event coordination and multimedia production related to wildlife conservation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, researching, producing and releasing communications and multimedia materials on wildlife conservation topics, with a focus on the MIKE Programme.
• Support the organisation of meetings, workshops and events, including MIKE Subregional Steering Committee meetings, training workshops and technical advisory group sessions.
• Help prepare briefing notes, presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the documentation and archiving of programme activities and outcomes.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and detail‑oriented individual able to work under supervision.
• Strong interest in environmental issues, wildlife conservation and international agreements.
