Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to support its One Health initiatives within the Nature and Health Unit of the Biodiversity and Land Branch, Ecosystems Division, based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects related to One Health.
• Monitor and analyse programme progress, review documents and reports, and propose corrective actions.
• Conduct consulting assignments, facilitate workshops, and help clients develop change‑management action plans.
• Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources to inform policy development.
• Design and implement surveys, create data‑collection tools, analyse responses and prepare conclusions.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analyses, report sections and inputs for publications.
• Provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda setting, participant identification and preparation of documents and presentations.
• Lead outreach activities, deliver training workshops and seminars, and make presentations on assigned topics.
• Participate in or lead field missions, guide external consultants and officials, and draft mission summaries.

Required profile

• Works under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Nature for Health Unit.
