Recreation Services Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Recreation Services Specialist to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on delivering recreation programs that boost morale and welfare for military personnel and civilians.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deliver, and oversee recreation programs and activities for the military community.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous material handling guidelines (CNICINST 1710.3).
• Manage day‑to‑day recreational services, facilities, and equipment with an emphasis on safety and customer satisfaction.
• Set up and support special events, sports leagues, and community‑wide activities.
• Interact with patrons, respond to inquiries, and provide professional customer service.
• Inspect and maintain recreational equipment and facilities to meet safety standards.
• Manage inventory of supplies and materials used in recreation programs.
• Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field preferred).
• Familiarity with recreational activities and customer service in a community or military setting.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Proficiency in English (reading, speaking, comprehension) for contract performance and emergency procedures.

Required skills

• MWR Star Service/AECR certification.
• HAZMAT certification.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
• Training in local emergency procedures with annual recertification as required.
