Sales Manager – Alternative Channels

About the role

The Sales Manager – Alternative Channels will lead the development and growth of strategic partnerships across micro‑finance institutions, SACCOs, fintechs, professional associations and other alternative distribution channels, delivering Life, General and Health insurance solutions in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with MFIs, SACCOs, fintechs, professional associations and other alternative distribution channels to distribute Life, General and Health insurance products.
• Drive premium growth, revenue and profitability by acquiring new partners, expanding existing relationships and cross‑selling across the insurance portfolio.
• Lead partnership onboarding, conduct regular business reviews and collaborate with internal product, underwriting, claims and marketing teams to tailor solutions for partner customers.
• Design and deliver training, capacity‑building and financial‑literacy programmes for partner staff to increase sales effectiveness and insurance uptake.
• Monitor portfolio performance, ensure compliance with AML/KYC and regulatory standards, and report on KPIs such as premium growth, retention and partner productivity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Marketing, Economics or related field; professional insurance qualifications (e.g., AIIK, ACII) are a plus.
• 5‑10 years of business development, sales or partnership management experience in insurance, banking, fintech, SACCO or MFI environments, with a proven record of revenue growth.
• Experience in multi‑line insurance distribution (Life, General, Health) and in developing alternative distribution channels.
