Senior Business Development - Mining

About the role

The Business Development – Mining role will support PowerGen’s expansion in the mining sector by originating opportunities and building a strong pipeline of mining‑sector C&I energy projects. You will leverage established industry relationships to generate qualified leads, facilitate client introductions, and strengthen PowerGen’s presence in the mining segment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the business development strategy for the mining sector, driving pipeline growth, market expansion and partnership opportunities.
• Identify and analyse new mining opportunities, prepare business cases, proposals, budgets and cost estimates, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure projects are ready for execution.
• Oversee client engagement, maintain strong relationships with mining clients and stakeholders, and support revenue generation through innovative deal structuring.
• Gather and analyse market insights, competitor activity and client feedback to refine solutions and value propositions for mining clients.
• Continuously improve BD processes, tools and reporting to enable the team.

Required profile

• 7+ years of business development or project development experience in Africa, preferably within mining or energy sectors.
• Strong network of senior executives in the African mining sector and proven ability to influence decision‑making.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple opportunities and travel frequently to client sites.
