Senior Officer, Africa, Global Partnership Development

About the role

The Senior Officer, Africa, Global Partnership Development leads the foundation’s strategy for African philanthropy. This senior position works across the Global Policy & Advocacy division and the Philanthropic Partnerships team to mobilize resources, build high‑impact alliances, and advance the foundation’s health and development goals on the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the foundation’s approach to African philanthropy, focusing on ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, corporate foundations, family offices and social impact investors.
• Develop and steward high‑level relationships with donors, partners and grantees to unlock new capital for global health and development initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal program teams (Global Health, Global Development, Gender Equality, etc.) to align partnership strategies with program objectives.
• Represent the foundation in external forums, advisory boards and collaborative initiatives such as Gates Philanthropy Partners and Proponent Labs.
• Track and report on partnership outcomes, ensuring alignment with the foundation’s impact metrics.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in partnership development, philanthropy or resource mobilization, preferably with a focus on Africa.
• Demonstrated ability to engage ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, corporate foundations and impact investors.
• Strong understanding of global health, development and equity challenges.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
