Senior Technical Advisor – Horizon-1000

About the role

The Senior Technical Advisor (STA) leads the implementation, coordination and delivery of the Horizon1000 programme in Kenya, ensuring AI‑enabled solutions are safely integrated into primary health‑care services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute the Horizon1000 programme against scope, workplans, milestones and budgets.
• Translate programme strategy into annual and quarterly implementation plans aligned with Ministry of Health priorities.
• Manage the project team and collaborate with other Amref programmes for seamless delivery.
• Oversee AI use‑case identification, solution deployment, responsible AI governance and implementation science activities.
• Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks and provide corrective actions and risk assessments.
• Coordinate human‑centred design, workflow assessments, user research and training for frontline health workers.
• Ensure AI solutions integrate with Kenya’s digital health ecosystem and strengthen existing government systems.
• Engage with Ministry of Health, Digital Health Agency, county governments and development partners as the primary operational focal point.
