Workshop Controller (Automotive Sales)

About the role

The Workshop Controller will oversee vehicle repair operations within an automotive sales environment, ensuring accurate estimates, timely service and high‑quality workmanship. This full‑time position reports to the Workshop Manager and works closely with service advisors and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation of accurate vehicle repair estimates.
• Support service advisors with on‑site advice and keep customers informed of progress and any estimate variations.
• Manage warranty and policy cases, ensuring proper handling.
• Provide leadership to technicians, analysing problems and guiding resolutions.
• Monitor productivity, sign off job cards and guarantee quality work.
• Report incidents and near‑misses, leading investigations.
• Maintain special tools, hand tools, manuals and equipment in good condition.
• Allocate manpower by reviewing daily bookings and work‑in‑progress.
• Train and instruct workshop staff.
• Follow up on sublet repairs to ensure timely, quality delivery.
• Enforce internal control procedures and 5S workplace organization.
• Handle customer complaints promptly to maintain satisfaction.

Required profile

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑leadership role, preferably in a dealership or workshop.
• Proven experience in workshop operations, vehicle diagnostics, repair planning and quality control.
• Strong customer‑service and complaint‑resolution abilities.
