Accounting & Finance Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term – Nairobi

About the role

The Accounting & Finance Associate (G‑6) supports UNICEF’s financial management in Kenya, ensuring accurate recording, reporting and oversight of resources. Working from the Nairobi office, the role contributes to efficient use of funds and provides financial guidance to staff and consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with financial reports, compile data and respond to queries to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Act as the local finance focal point by verifying invoices, calculations and submitting them to the Global Shared Services Centre.
• Monitor and reconcile daily expenditures, balances and payments, maintaining up‑to‑date records.
• Enter and verify data from multiple sources, guaranteeing completeness and correctness.
• Produce scheduled and ad‑hoc reports for audits, budgets and other requirements.
• Support year‑end account closure and preparation of financial statements.
• Provide staff and consultant advisory on allowances, claims and related financial matters.
• Maintain relationships with local banks, track exchange rates and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Assist in budget preparation, cost estimates and analysis for projects.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
