About the role
The Child Protection Officer will lead the development and timely processing of Best Interest Assessments (BIAs) and Best Interest Determinations (BIDs) for children in refugee camps, ensuring durable solutions and addressing protection concerns.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and support individual case management through BIA & BID processes in field offices.
- Mentor community supervisors and workers, providing on‑the‑job training to strengthen case‑management competencies.
- Design and implement a capacity‑building strategy for caseworkers involved in BIA & BID processes.
- Participate actively in inter‑agency coordination meetings such as BID panels, CPWG and case conferences.
- Analyse training schedules and provide technical guidance for effective BIA/BID implementation.
- Ensure timely data management and documentation of cases, coordinating with MEAL assistants to keep the CPIMS database up‑to‑date.
- Contribute to programme contingency planning and provide technical support for complex cases.
- Produce regular quantitative and qualitative progress reports.
Required profile
- Proven experience in managing BIAs and BIDs for children in humanitarian settings.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with UNHCR, UNICEF protection units and inter‑agency working groups.
- Leadership experience supervising case‑management teams and providing mentorship.
- Strong analytical skills for training planning and data quality oversight.
