Commercial Manager – Coffee Trading (Kenya)

About the role

The Commercial Manager will lead Louis Dreyfus Company’s coffee business in Kenya, overseeing profit & loss, trading, and marketing activities. You will manage a dedicated coffee team, build strong customer relationships, and drive sustainable supply‑chain initiatives across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own P&L for the Kenya coffee portfolio, targeting a $2 M commercial margin.
• Manage the LDC Kenya coffee team, coordinating trading, marketing and origin sourcing.
• Develop and sustain relationships with key customers, providing market advice and regular visits.
• Identify new trade flows, acquire new customers and expand business with existing partners.
• Support LDC sustainability projects and build transparent, responsible supply chains.
• Analyse balance sheets, evaluate trading opportunities and map destination markets to shape entry strategies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in physical coffee trading, preferably specialty coffee.
• Established book of EAF green‑coffee buyers and strong origin knowledge.
• University degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.
• Fluent English; additional language is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work internationally and travel frequently.

Required skills

• Advanced coffee cupping and sensory evaluation (Q Grader preferred).
• Strong Excel and Word proficiency (advanced functions, data analysis).
• Solid MS Office skills.
• Balance‑sheet analysis and trading‑opportunity assessment.
