Commercial & Regional Director, East Africa (Fintech)

About the role

Optasia is seeking a visionary Commercial & Regional Director to lead its East Africa operations. This senior position combines strategic commercial leadership with full responsibility for regional performance, financial results, and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the commercial strategy for the assigned customer portfolio and region.
• Act as General Manager of the regional office, aligning commercial, operational and financial goals with Optasia’s global strategy.
• Oversee revenue generation, cost optimisation, compliance and operational delivery.
• Provide accurate forecasting, financial projections and manage the annual budget for both the portfolio and regional activities.
• Identify growth opportunities, drive product adoption and expand market presence.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of regional and account managers.
• Foster cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Operations, Finance and Technology teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior executives, negotiate high‑value contracts and represent Optasia at industry events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior commercial leadership, preferably within Telecom or Mobile Financial Services.
• Strong track record of revenue growth, market expansion and managing P&L.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
