Data Center Manager - System Integration & Large Deployments

About the role

A senior Data Center Manager is sought in Nairobi, with a strong System Integration (SI) background and more than 10 years of experience designing, deploying and managing large-scale enterprise data center infrastructure. The role covers end-to-end greenfield and brownfield implementations, integrating compute, storage, networking, virtualization, HCI, Kubernetes and cloud platforms for enterprise and hyperscale customers. The position is full time and has now closed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large-scale data center deployment and infrastructure transformation projects from design through implementation and handover.
• Manage end-to-end SI projects covering compute, storage, networking, virtualization, security, backup and cloud infrastructure.
• Design and deploy enterprise server, storage, Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) and virtualization platforms.
• Lead Kubernetes and container platform implementation for modern application workloads.
• Coordinate with OEMs, customers, consultants and cross-functional teams to deliver complex infrastructure solutions.
• Oversee data center migration, consolidation, refresh and modernization with minimal business disruption.
• Manage rack integration, server installation, storage provisioning, network integration and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security and operational standards.
• Develop High Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning and lifecycle management.
• Lead customer workshops, technical reviews, acceptance testing and project sign-off.
• Manage operations, incident and problem management and SLA adherence, and prepare project plans, schedules, risk assessments and technical documentation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure and System Integration projects.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale data center deployments for enterprise or hyperscale environments.
• Experience managing OEMs, subcontractors and multiple technology partners.
• Ability to lead customer-facing technical discussions and solution delivery.

Required skills

• Hands-on expertise with servers, storage, networking, virtualization and HCI.
• Production experience implementing Kubernetes and container platforms.
• Cloud integration and hybrid infrastructure knowledge.
• Preferred certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and vendor certifications such as Veeam, Commvault, Hitachi, HPE, Dell, IBM or Lenovo.
