Food Safety Team Leader (Fixed-term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is looking for an experienced food safety professional with 5+ years in food manufacturing to lead its Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and BRCGS/FSSC certification, which opens premium export markets for macadamia nuts. As Food Safety Team Leader, you will lead the food safety team, review shift records, check CCPs and monitoring, walk the floor from receiving to packing, close audit findings, drive corrective actions, investigate issues to root cause, coach the team and prepare for audits.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, implement, maintain and update the FSMS, including hazard analysis, validation of control measures and verification of flow diagrams
• Manage and organise the food safety team, ensure their training and competencies, and report to top management on the FSMS's effectiveness
• Maintain records of verified flow diagrams, corrections and corrective actions, and track achievement of FSMS objectives
• Ensure 100% compliance with FSMS (BRC and FSSC) and other legislation (Kosher, Halal, Kephis) within six months, and close audit gaps and NCRs
• Support processing operations so that final products meet statutory, customer and organisational requirements within six months
• Build QA and EA capacity for raw material receiving and factory processes, aiming for 75% NIS by the end of 2025, and train on quality processes from sampling to analysis
• Manage product analysis, swab and personnel hygiene analysis, and ensure 20 MT of NIS is available daily for cracking
• Lead food safety culture, attend bi-weekly factory meetings, and optimise deliverables and costs

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing
• Bachelor's degree in food science
• Attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities
