Ground Cargo Handler / MHE Operator

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Ground Cargo Handler / MHE Operator to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves safely operating powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment, including the transport of hazardous materials.

Key responsibilities

• Operate PITs and other MHE to load, unload, and transport cargo in compliance with safety regulations.
• Handle hazardous materials, ensuring proper containment, labeling, and transport per DOT regulations.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and report any issues.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment use, cargo movements, and hazardous material transport.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience operating PITs/MHE in a logistics environment.
• Valid government‑issued license with HAZMAT endorsement.
• Ability to obtain required visas and pass medical requirements.

Required skills

• Operation of powered industrial trucks (PIT) and material handling equipment (MHE).
• Hazardous material handling and compliance with 49 CFR 1910.178 and DoD 4140.1‑R.
• Government‑issued driver’s license with appropriate class and HAZMAT endorsement.
