About the role
The Head of Programmes provides senior programme leadership for LSTM Kenya, overseeing a research portfolio worth over £9 million. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role ensures efficient delivery, strong governance and effective partnership with donors and strategic collaborators.
Key responsibilities
- Represent LSTM to government agencies, funders, research partners and international stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor programme KPIs, performance metrics and organisational structures.
- Lead programme management, administrative, logistics and operational teams across LSTM Kenya.
- Oversee work‑plans, ensuring delivery on time, to quality standards and within budget.
- Manage regulatory and ethics submissions, amendments and reporting.
- Act as senior liaison for donor engagement and ensure timely, compliant reporting.
- Provide financial oversight of research grants, guide budget development and monitor expenditures.
- Champion data protection and governance as Information Asset Owner.
Required profile
- Extensive experience leading programme management, administrative and operational functions in a research or health‑science environment.
- Proven ability to work with senior leaders on governance, risk management and organisational design.
- Strong knowledge of donor compliance, reporting requirements and regulatory/ethics processes.
- Demonstrated skill in building collaborative, cross‑functional teams and fostering a cohesive organisational culture.
