Information Systems Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) serves as the UN headquarters in Africa. The Information Systems Assistant will join the Infrastructure Management Section of the ICT Service, providing first‑line monitoring and operational support for UNON’s network, data‑center and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor UNON ICT infrastructure using centralized monitoring platforms, covering networks, systems, data‑centers and environmental systems.
• Detect, log, classify and prioritize incidents; perform initial diagnostics and first‑line resolution.
• Escalate complex issues to technical teams, service providers or vendors according to defined procedures.
• Provide first‑line operational support for ICT services, including after‑hours service‑desk functions.
• Track incidents through to resolution and maintain accurate logs and communication records.

Required profile

• Works under the general supervision of the Chief, Infrastructure Management Section and the direct supervision of the Network Operations Centre Supervisor.
• Collaborates closely with the Network Communications Unit and the Server Storage and Datacenter Unit.
