IT Specialist (Enterprise Architecture)

About the role

The IT Specialist (Enterprise Architecture) will define business policies, identify required technologies, and design architecture systems that support artificial intelligence and machine learning functions within the USDA environment. This position plays a key role in shaping the organization’s technical direction and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define business policies needed to operate the organization effectively.
• Identify and recommend technologies that support business operations.
• Develop transition processes for implementing new technologies.
• Conduct studies to assess current practices, compare alternatives, and evaluate pilot projects.
• Prepare formal reports with analytical findings and actionable recommendations.
• Communicate change recommendations, assessments, and feasibility analyses to internal and external stakeholders.
• Design architecture systems that perform AI/ML functions.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or national; males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Successful completion of background investigation and fingerprint check.
• Ability to pass E‑Verify employment verification.
• Current federal employees must meet time‑in‑grade requirements for promotion.
• Specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level for GS‑13 consideration.
