About the role
Amentum is seeking a skilled Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining and repairing a fleet of automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment in a remote, demanding environment.
Key responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues on vehicles and heavy machinery, order parts, and perform repairs.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to reactive maintenance needs.
- Instruct other mechanics on vehicle inspection methods and review inspection reports.
- Recommend maintenance actions, design modifications, and safety improvements.
- Conduct quality checks on work in progress and upon completion.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least five years of experience in a mechanic role.
- Ability to work long hours in adverse weather and hazardous conditions.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
