Motor Vehicle (Automotive) Mechanic – Heavy Commercial Vehicles

About the role

Our client, a growing organisation with a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, is looking for a hands‑on Motor Vehicle (Automotive) Mechanic. The role involves maintaining, diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty trucks to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and perform appropriate repairs.
• Service and maintain diesel engines and related systems.
• Inspect vehicles regularly to identify potential problems before breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic components.
• Respond to breakdowns and execute necessary repairs promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of all servicing and repairs.
• Ensure tools, equipment and workshop facilities are kept in good condition.
• Follow safety procedures and maintenance standards.
• Provide technical recommendations on repairs and maintenance.

Required profile

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years hands‑on experience with motor vehicle mechanics, preferably heavy commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and automotive electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
• Experience with Chinese‑manufactured trucks (e.g., HOWO) is an advantage.
• High level of integrity, reliability and attention to detail.
• Capable of working effectively in a demanding operational environment.
